Future Joy

C.S. Lewis said, "All joy (as distinct from mere pleasure, still more amusement) emphasizes our pilgrim status; always reminds, beckons, awakens desire. Our best havings are wantings."

Havings are wantings, because where we find joy in our future state. This joy in our future state, a longing or wanting makes us happy, and this happiness is not fading, thus it becomes real. And so, those things which we want, really our things that we have, and thus, become our joy.

In Christ alone!

Amen.
