Isaiah 49:6
He says:"It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth."

This morning in contemplating the Scriptures, I look at this passage from Isaiah, and I see the clear prophecy of the redemption opened to the Gentiles by Christ. Oh, God gives more grace!

God here says that it isn't enough to just bring the Israelites captive in the Babylonia captivity to freedom, that could and will be done, but that is not enough. Just the release of the captives of Israel, does not show God's power and might enough. God says that he will make Israel a light for the nations, so that the nations will be saved.

God is here saying that the salvation and redemption of Israel, freeing them from bondage is not enough, for there are whole people groups who are in bondage and slavery to sin and their own lusts. There are whole people groups help captive to the darkness. Thus, God will give more grace, and not only free His people, but will also free the lost of the world as well.

This passage is a call to me today to give grace, more grace. It is too light a thing for us to show love and mercy to the saints. We must be a light to the Gentiles, we must go and show them the love and mercy found in Jesus Christ, so that they can see the Light of the world, Jesus Christ, and run to the safety of His shelter.

This day, Oh, God, let me run to the Rock that is higher than I, Jesus Christ, remembering that it was too light a thing for you to just redeem your people Israel, thus, to show your great grace, you redeemed the world, your elect from it, and numbered and counted me in that happy throng. Father, let me be filled with your Holy Spirit today, and be a light to a lost and dying world. Let me show them Jesus Christ, and the need for Him. Let me show everyone that I see and talk to today that the King of glory does what He pleases, and what He pleases is to heap grace upon grace. In Christ, Amen.
