Isaiah 44:3
For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
What an amazing God I have. Today is another wonderful day that the Lord has made. The birds are chirpting, the grass is green, the trees are blooming, the flowers are budding, and wonder of the Lord of hosts fills my soul.
The psalmist, when he was in the wilderness of Judah, in Psalm 63:1-2 says:
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.
I can't help but think that this verse in Isaiah, and this statement of the psalmist are related. The psalmist, as he was in desperate need of water, exclaims how he was ultimately in desperate need of God. The God of yesterday, today and forever, is a personal God who desires us to have an intimate relationship with Him, and to rely on Him in all things.
Thus, God tells Isaiah that He will pour water out on a land that is in desparate need of water, and streams of water, enough to satisfy the land, onto the dry groud. This is what God will do for His people. So, God says that He will pour out His Spirit upon me, and my offspring, and will bless my descendants.
The covenant God will satisfy not only me, but He will also satisfy my descendants. God's Spirit, living in my soul is enough to satisfy all of my thirst. His grace and goodness is enough to quench the longings and thirstings for something more than this material life. God will provide the answer and fill the gap that exists in my soul.
Oh Lord, King, God Almighty, I come before you this morning and recognize your wonder and power. I recognize that you are not only God, but you are my Father, and my King. I thirst for you today, my soul pants for you, just like the psalmist. Please oh God, come and pour your Spirit upon me today. Visit me with your presence, and may the world see and know that I am your child, and I have grace from the Lord Almighty. In Christ I pary, Amen.
