Please let me cry

A short poem based on 2 Timothy 4:1-5:

Even though souls are every day dying.
Why is it that I am not crying?

"Tell me a story I want to hear,
But don’t tell me a story that will make me fear.
Tell me of myths and legends of old,
But don’t tell me a story that breaks the mold.
If you tell me about my sin and misery,
I will act as if you are hurting me."

Even though souls are every day dying.
Why is it that I am not crying?

"Even though Christ sits on the throne,
Do you live as if earth is your only home?
Even though judgment looms over the next hill,
Does not terror strike you or the wrath it will fulfill.
If I tell you about judgment and sin,
Will you run to Christ and the prize of eternal life win?"

Even though souls are every day dying.
Why is it that I am not crying?
